Umberto Lenzi’s second stab at cannibal horror (after Eaten Alive) is a gleefully violent grab bag of gory delights. Penis whacking, hand chopping, head lopping, gut munching, breast piercing, eye gouging, brain slurping: its all there, along with some unnecessary animal cruelty for good measure. Cannibal Ferox is a must see for fans of the genre, but casual viewers should take heed—this wasn’t banned in 31 countries for nothing!
On a business trip to Rome, two American men (Ernest Borgnine and Robert Alda) put their careers in jeopardy by frequenting an upscale bordello in this wry Italian import directed by Armando Nannuzzi. Françoise Fabian portrays the cathouse madam, Nira, who’s more interested in making a bundle to start a new life with her lover than she is in the welfare of her hookers.
Arms dealer Yolaf Peterson aims to make a sale to guerilla Mongo, but the money is locked in a bank safe, the combination known only to Professor Xantos, a prisoner of the Americans. Yolaf agrees to free Xantos, accompanied by reluctant guerilla Basco, but a former business partner of Yolaf’s- John ‘The Wooden Hand’, has other ideas.
